Lyrics: Working On Me – Zacardi Cortez

Time after time
I tried to do it my way
The choices I made
Only led to mistakes
Lord, change my mind
And Lord, change my heart, oh
Lord, I’m asking for a brand-new start

Listen y’all, I’m getting better every day
So please don’t throw me away

God is working on me
Work on my heart (God is working on me)
I need heart surgery (God is working on me)
And God, I need You to work on my mind
(God is working on me) Doctor Jesus, uh

Clean me up inside, uh
Wash me through and through
So I can tell the whole wide world
It was nobody but you (nobody but you), oh
What a wonderful change
Oh, I can’t explain
But listen y’all
If He did it before
I know He can do it again, oh

I’m getting better every day
So please don’t throw me away

Oh, God is working on me
Oh yes, He is (God is working on me)
I want you to know tonight, yeah (God is working on me)
God is working on me (God is working on me)
I don’t always get it right (God is working on me)
Sometimes I stumble, trip and I fall (God is working on me)
But God’s love keep on lifting me higher (God is working on me)
Oh, God is (God is working on me)

Let me tell you this right here
He’s not through with me yet
He’s still working on me
Oh, can’t you see He’s not through? (He’s not through with me yet)
So please be patient with me
Oh, can’t you see He’s not through? (He’s not through with me yet)

Every test, every trial
It was all working to get me here (He’s not through with me yet)
So please, please, please, be patient with me
‘Cause I want y’all to see
God (God is working on me), oh

Don’t blame Mr. Charlie
He’s just a man, and he’s doing the best he can (God is working on me)
I’ve got a long way to go
But I’m so glad God is taking me higher (God is working on me)
So don’t look at my right now (God is working on me)
Just give me a little time (God is working on me)
I’m gonna be better than ever (God is working on me)
When God get’s through (working on me)
Working on me (working on me)

It’s not over (working on me)
Until God gets through (working on me)
He’s working on me (working on me)
Let Him work on you (working on me)
I need a fresh start (working on me)
Can you make me new? (Working on me)
God is (working on me)
Working on me (working on me)
If you counted me out (working on me)
You just can’t count (working on me)

Wait ’til you see me (working on me)
When I come out (working on me)
God is (working on me)
Keep on (working on me)

Everybody sing God is (God is working on me)
Be patient with me (God is working on me)
‘Cause I want y’all to see, oh yeah (God is working on me)
I’m not what I ought to be (God is working on me)
But thank God I’m not what I used to be (God is working on me)
Create in a clean heart (God is working on me)
And renew the right spirit
If you feel like me (God is working on me)
Y’all help me sing, say God is (God is) working on me
