What God said about Sex before Marriage

Sex Before Marriage as a Christian

Sex before marriage is a topic that has been widely debated within religious communities, particularly among Christians. The Bible, the holy scripture of Christianity, does not directly mention premarital sex as a sin, but there are several passages that are often used to support the belief that it is a violation of God’s will.

One of the most commonly cited passages is 1 Corinthians 6:18, which states, “Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against their own body.” This passage is often interpreted as a clear command to avoid all forms of sexual immorality, including premarital sex. Additionally, 1 Thessalonians 4:3 states, “God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.” This passage is also seen as a prohibition against premarital sex.

However, it’s important to note that the Bible also contains passages that celebrate sexual love within the context of marriage. For example, the Song of Solomon is a book in the Old Testament that is often seen as a celebration of the sexual love between a husband and wife. The book is filled with intimate and sensual imagery, depicting the strong bond of love and desire between the couple. This passage also emphasizes that sex is a gift from God and is meant to be enjoyed within the boundaries of marriage.

In addition to these passages,

Christians also often point to the biblical concept of chastity. Chastity is the virtue of refraining from sexual intercourse before marriage. This virtue is based on the belief that sex is a sacred act that should be reserved for the intimacy of marriage. By remaining chaste, individuals are able to maintain their physical, emotional, and spiritual purity.

It is also important to note that some religious communities have different views on premarital sex. For example, some denominations within Christianity allow for premarital sex under certain circumstances. They may also allow for sex between unmarried individuals as long as it is consensual, respectful, and in loving relationships.

Conclusion

In conclusion, while the Bible does not directly mention premarital sex as a sin, there are several passages that are often used to support the belief that it is a violation of God’s will. However, it is also important to remember that the Bible also contains passages that celebrate sexual love within the context of marriage. Ultimately, the decision about whether to engage in premarital sex is a personal one that should be made with careful consideration of one’s religious beliefs and values.

  1. Though the bible does not mention “premarital sex” but it’s against “fornication” which is between two people who aren’t married. So any sex had while not married whether in courtship or not is still under fornication and is also premarital sex. Shalom!!!
