A THEOLOGICAL REBUTTAL ON THE “CONCEPT OF GOD BEING A RECKLESS LOVER, OR DISHING OUT LOVE RECKLESSLY” A RESPONSE TO PAUL TOMISIN SONG “RECKLESS LOVER” RELEASED ON MARCH 12, 2026
I will start by giving the English Definition of what reckless means which according to the English Dictionary says it is a “careless, or heedless; headstrong or rash” exhibition of a thing. Now does your God loves you recklessly (carelessly, heedlessly or rashly) or is he in any way a reckless (careless, heedless or rash) lover?
This concept of God being a reckless lover is not biblical neither is it in agreement with biblical doctrine few verses like John 3:16, 1 John 3:1, Romans 5:8, Jeremiah 31:3 etc. talks about the sacrificial, enduring and thoughtful love of Christ to us his children.
Often a times, I understand when artists suffers from what I call “poverty of language” in which they lack the best words/lines to describe a feeling to convey their message but this poverty must not be at the detriment of the integrity and attribute of our God.
Now, a Christians, calling his Savior and Lord careless or rash in a bid to express his appreciation of His kindness, mercy and love is indeed a punch to God face even if it is done ignorantly. That’s why this rebuttal must not be taken as a way of attacking Paul but drawing attention to correction.

Though the synonym for the word “Reckless” is careless, but you’re forgetting that the opposite of the word is cautious and wary. If God’s love towards us was carefully measured then He wouldn’t have come by himself to die for our sins as Jesus Christ…
Exodus 34:14 (KJV) For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
God’s love is perfect in the sense that even though He’s a jealous God His jealousy is righteous… Since it’s possible for God to be virtuously angry and jealous, then He can also be a righteously reckless lover as well…
I perfectly understand what sir Israel Shadrach is saying.. indeed God’s love is not in any way reckless at all and it’s also nice that it’s done from ignorance buh that ignorance should be rebuked and not applauded.. thanks for bringing out to clarity with so much consideration and understanding.. it’s now up to our ministers to take note of that an adjust their lyrics.. thanks sir Shadrach.

Just like you said;it’s all in a bid to express an unexplainable extent of God’s love despite our constant refusal and rejection of this love as shown in our inclination to sin.
The word I believe,is used in the above context and it’s possible someone who hasn’t experienced that dimension with God,might look at it and interpret the word differently.Taking it as it is.
