His music is centered on prayer, revival, surrender and congregational worship, with a sound that reflects the rich traditions of South African gospel.

Before becoming a solo recording artist, Oncemore Six spent years working behind the scenes as a backing vocalist for some of South Africa’s established gospel musicians. His experience supporting artists such as Dr Tumi, Solly Mahlangu, Takie Ndou, Tebs David, Ayanda Ntanzi and Hle helped him develop as a vocalist and worship leader. Early Life and Background

Oncemore Six grew up in eMzinoni, Mpumalanga, as the son of a pastor. Church was therefore central to his childhood, and he was exposed to worship and ministry from a very young age. His name, Oncemore, carries a personal family story. His parents had previously experienced a miscarriage and, after being blessed with another child, named him Oncemore as an expression of gratitude.

Music became a natural part of his upbringing. He was singing from an early age and developed a particular interest in worship. By the age of 14, he was already serving as a worship leader at his father’s church, where he led a youth praise group known as Power of Praise.

His early ministry experiences gave him opportunities to perform before established gospel audiences. Power of Praise opened for prominent South African gospel acts and shared stages with artists including the late Sfiso Ncwane and Solly Mahlangu. These experiences helped shape his understanding of worship as ministry rather than simply entertainment.

Education and Early Career

After completing high school, Oncemore Six briefly pursued civil engineering studies. However, his growing conviction that music and worship were central to his calling eventually led him to move away from his academic path and focus more seriously on ministry.

His professional breakthrough came through gospel singer Tebs David, a family friend and mentor. David invited him to Pretoria to work as a backing vocalist, giving him the opportunity to tour, record and gain practical experience in the South African gospel industry.

Oncemore subsequently became a sought-after backing vocalist. He worked with established gospel musicians including Dr Tumi, Solly Mahlangu, Takie Ndou, Pastor Philly, Rofhiwa Manyaga, Ayanda Ntanzi and Hle. Those years gave him extensive experience in live performance and introduced his voice to audiences long before he began releasing music under his own name.

Solo Career and Ngeke Ng’suke Kuwe

Oncemore Six officially began his solo recording career in 2021 with “Ngeke Ng’suke Kuwe.” The title, expressed in isiZulu, carries the idea of not turning away from God. The song became particularly popular within South African churches and established Oncemore as a worship leader with a growing audience of his own.

The recording was made with Mmuso Worship’s church choir, reflecting his close relationship with the worship collective. Its extended worship format and simple but powerful message allowed it to function naturally in congregational settings.

The success of “Ngeke Ng’suke Kuwe” led to further opportunities for live ministry and recording. Rather than immediately pursuing a conventional commercial gospel career, Oncemore continued emphasizing worship experiences, church gatherings and collaborative ministry.

Jesus and the Church

On August 27, 2022, Oncemore Six recorded his first major live project, Jesus and the Church. The recording brought together a choir of more than 1,000 voices, reinforcing his preference for large-scale congregational worship rather than a purely individual performance format.

The project represented an important step in his development as a solo artist. It also reflected one of the central ideas behind his ministry: that worship is fundamentally a collective expression of faith.

He continued releasing music in the years that followed. “Here On Our Knees,” released in 2023, became another important worship song, focusing on prayer, surrender and dependence on God. Other releases from this period include “Themba Lendalo Yonke” and “Umhlatshelo (The Sacrifice).”

Musical Style and Influences

Oncemore Six’s music is firmly rooted in South African gospel and contemporary worship. His songs often use isiZulu alongside English and emphasize themes such as prayer, God’s faithfulness, revival, surrender and the presence of God.

His years as a backing vocalist have strongly influenced his approach. Rather than building his music solely around vocal showmanship, he places considerable emphasis on creating an atmosphere in which listeners can participate.

This is particularly evident in his live recordings, which often feature large choirs and extended worship passages. His vocal delivery can move from quiet and reflective to powerful and declarative, while the arrangements create space for spontaneous worship.

His close association with Mmuso Worship has also contributed to his musical development. The collective’s emphasis on prayer, live worship and collaboration closely aligns with his own approach to gospel music.

Remnant and Major Collaborations

In 2024, Oncemore Six developed the Remnant worship project, bringing together choirs from 18 different churches. The initiative was designed around the idea of bringing worshippers and church communities together rather than focusing on a single artist.

The project culminated in Remnant: Night of Worship in Pretoria on September 23, 2024. Oncemore has continued working with The Remnant on recordings and worship events, including The Reason (Live) and “Create in Me.”

He has also collaborated extensively with Mmuso Worship. His appearances include “Promise Keeping God,” “Psalms 23 (uMusa Wakho),” “My Redeemer,” “Zion” and several live worship recordings.

Beyond South Africa, he has participated in international African gospel collaborations. He was featured on Halal Afrika’s “We Worship Adonai,” a multilingual worship song that brought together singers from different African countries.

Awards, Recognition and Current Music

Oncemore Six has performed at major South African gospel events, including the Crown Gospel Music Awards. His growing international profile also earned him a nomination for Best Africa Gospel Artiste: Diaspora at the 2025 Praise Achievement Awards.

His discography has continued expanding with releases including “Ohlonishwayo,” “Umkhuleko We Bandla,” “Ebenezer” and “Well Done.” His work with The Remnant has also produced recordings such as The Reason (Live).

In 2025, he appeared on several collaborative live projects, while 2026 has brought further international worship collaborations and new recordings. His latest solo release, “Follow Yeshua (Live),” arrived in June 2026. He has also appeared on recent recordings such as “Zion,” “We Bow to You” and “Grateful.”

These releases demonstrate his continuing movement toward large-scale worship ministry while maintaining the intimate prayer-centered character of his earlier work.

Ministry and Legacy

Oncemore Six’s career is closely connected to his identity as a worship leader. His experience in church, his years as a backing vocalist and his work with large worship collectives have all contributed to a ministry built around bringing people together in prayer and praise.

His transition from supporting established gospel artists to becoming a recognized worship leader is an important part of his story. Instead of abandoning the collaborative environment in which he began, he has carried that spirit into his solo work, frequently recording with choirs, worship collectives and fellow gospel musicians.
