Pastor Emmanuel Aniefiok Iren is a Nigerian pastor, gospel singer, songwriter, author and Christian teacher best known as the founder and Lead Pastor of Celebration Church International (CCI). Born on December 18, 1989, and raised in Lagos after being born into a family from Akwa Ibom State, Iren developed an interest in Christian ministry from an early age. His work combines Bible teaching, pastoral leadership, music, writing and discipleship, with a particular emphasis on helping young Christians understand their identity and purpose in Christ.
Alongside his pastoral work, Iren has established himself as a gospel music minister and songwriter. He is closely associated with Outburst Music Group, a Christian music collective that grew from the musical expression of Celebration Church. His songwriting and recordings have produced projects including Kerygma and Apostolos, while his songs have featured artists such as Sinach, Nosa, Judikay, E-Daniels and Eben. His music generally combines contemporary gospel and worship with lyrics centered on Scripture, faith and Christian identity.
Iren’s wider influence, however, extends beyond music. Celebration Church, which began from a campus fellowship he led while studying at Covenant University, has developed into a multinational ministry. Through preaching, Bible training, conferences, books and music, he has built a public ministry particularly influential among young Christians in Nigeria and beyond.

Emmanuel Iren was born into a Christian family with seven children. Although his childhood was relatively ordinary, his upbringing played an important role in shaping his approach to faith, leadership and responsibility. In a 2024 interview, he described his father as strict and his mother as gentle and rational, saying that he inherited qualities from both parents that later influenced his leadership style. Music was also part of the family environment. Iren and some of his siblings participated in an informal a cappella group and occasionally performed in churches.
His early involvement in church extended beyond simply attending services. Iren became involved in music and ministry while still young, including playing drums and participating in church activities. According to biographical accounts, he preached his first sermon during his teenage years at a church youth programme. These early experiences eventually developed into a deeper interest in teaching Scripture and working with young people.
Iren received his early education in Lagos, attending Saint Bernadette’s Nursery and Primary School in Ipaja before continuing at Queen’s Choice Nursery and Primary School College in Ikotun. He later attended Doregos Private Academy for his secondary education.
He went on to study Building Technology at Covenant University in Ota, Ogun State, graduating in 2011. He subsequently obtained a Master of Business Administration from the University of Lagos. His academic background is notable because his professional path ultimately moved away from building technology and toward pastoral ministry, teaching, music and Christian leadership.
Iren’s ministry career took shape during his university years. In 2008, while studying at Covenant University, he founded a campus fellowship known as Triumphal Youth Fellowship. What began as a student ministry gradually developed beyond the university environment and eventually became the foundation for what is now Celebration Church International.
The church was formally established in November 2012. It was initially known as Life Triumphal Church before being renamed Celebration Church International in 2014. Under Iren’s leadership, the ministry developed a strong emphasis on Bible teaching, prayer, evangelism, discipleship and helping believers understand and express their faith in everyday life.
Celebration Church has since expanded beyond its original Lagos setting, developing campuses in Nigeria and other countries. The church describes its mission as helping people celebrate life in Christ, know Christ deeply and make Him known around the world.
Music has been an important part of Iren’s ministry alongside preaching. Although he grew up around music, he has explained that he only began writing songs seriously as an adult. His approach to songwriting is closely connected to his ministry, and he has said that some of his songs emerged spontaneously during church services rather than through a conventional songwriting process.
Iren became the founder and principal songwriter of Outburst Music Group, a Christian music collective associated with Celebration Church. The group’s early work included Kerygma: Lyrical Theology and Octane: Devotion Formula. Iren wrote the songs on these projects, helping establish Outburst as a musical expression of the church’s emphasis on Scripture and Christian doctrine.
He also wrote “Light Up The Way”, which was recorded by Outburst Music Group with Nigerian gospel singer Eben. The collaboration helped bring wider attention to Iren’s songwriting outside his immediate church audience.
Iren’s first major album project with Outburst Music Group was Kerygma, released in 2017. The project established the theological and worship-oriented direction that would continue to characterize his music.
His later solo recording career gained greater attention with Apostolos, released in 2022. The album included songs such as “Overcome”, “In Your Name”, “Holy Ghost”, “Glory”, “Power in Abundance” and “Fire on My Altar”. It also brought together several prominent Nigerian gospel artists, including Sinach, Nosa and Judikay.
Another notable song associated with Iren is “Zoe”, a collaboration with gospel artist Odunayo Adebayo. He has also worked with artists including E-Daniels and Yetunde Are, extending his musical work beyond the Outburst collective.
His music is generally built around biblical themes rather than a purely entertainment-focused approach. In interviews, Iren has described his understanding of music ministry as closely connected to communicating the Word of God through song.
Iren’s music falls within contemporary gospel and Christian worship, but his songwriting is particularly distinguished by its strong theological content. Rather than separating his music from his preaching ministry, he treats songwriting as another way of teaching and communicating Christian truths.
This approach is reflected in the titles and themes of his recordings. Songs such as “Grace Changes Everything”, “Overcome”, “Holy Ghost” and “Fire on My Altar” focus on grace, faith, spiritual identity and the work of the Holy Spirit. His collaborations have also allowed him to combine his songwriting with the distinctive styles of other Nigerian gospel musicians.
His musical development was influenced by his early exposure to church music, but his work has also been shaped by his experience as a preacher and Bible teacher. This gives his songs a strong connection to the themes that appear throughout his sermons and Christian writings.
Iren continues to serve as the founder and Lead Pastor of Celebration Church International while maintaining his work as a gospel songwriter and recording artist. He also oversees Manifest Bible Course, a Bible training platform designed to provide structured teaching for Christians.
His public ministry has expanded into writing, conferences, media and Christian leadership. He has authored books including Leading Seeks You, Purposefully and A-Z of Destiny, further extending his emphasis on leadership, purpose and Christian growth.
In June 2025, Iren was inaugurated as President of the Youth Wing of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, adding a national Christian leadership role to his existing pastoral responsibilities.
