About Gateway Worship

Gateway Worship is the worship ministry and recording collective of Gateway Church, a large Christian church based in Southlake, Texas. Rather than being centered around one permanent frontperson, Gateway Worship brings together singers, musicians, songwriters and worship leaders who serve the church and contribute to its recorded music. For more than two decades, the collective has written, recorded and released worship music designed for congregational singing and personal devotion. Its work has become influential in contemporary Christian worship, with songs and albums reaching churches and listeners well beyond Gateway Church itself.

Gateway Worship emerged from the worship ministry of Gateway Church in the early 2000s and gradually developed into a recognizable name within contemporary Christian music. Its catalogue includes songs such as “The More I Seek You”, “O the Blood”, “Revelation Song”, “Walls”, “Who Else” and “Known By You”, while artists associated with the ministry have included Kari Jobe, Thomas Miller, Mark Harris and other worship leaders. The collective’s music has often emphasized intimate worship, biblical themes and congregational accessibility rather than presenting itself primarily as a commercial recording act.

Over the years, Gateway Worship has also expanded its ministry beyond English-language recordings. Gateway Worship Espaรฑol has developed a substantial Spanish-language catalogue, while Gateway Music also oversees Gateway Kids Worship and Gateway ALL IN. This broader structure has allowed the ministry to serve different generations and cultural communities while maintaining the same central purpose: using music to help people engage with Christian worship.

Formation and Early Years

Gateway Worship developed from the worship ministry of Gateway Church, which was founded in Southlake, Texas, in 1999. As the church grew, its worship ministry became increasingly active in writing and recording original songs. By the early 2000s, Gateway’s worship team was releasing music that could be used both within the church and by other congregations.

The ministry’s early recordings established an emphasis on songs written for worship rather than simply for performance. This approach became an important part of Gateway Worship’s identity. The collective has described its purpose as helping people encounter God and experience His presence through worship.

One of the earliest major projects associated with the ministry was Unsearchable, released in 2003. It was followed by a series of worship and devotional projects, including My Beloved, Conversations with God, Wake Up the World and The More I Seek You. These releases helped establish Gateway Worship within the growing contemporary worship movement.

Career and Development

As Gateway Church expanded, so did the reach of its music ministry. Gateway Worship’s recordings began reaching listeners outside Texas and eventually outside the United States. Its albums were distributed through Christian music channels, while individual songs became part of worship repertoires in churches.

A particularly important period came during the late 2000s and early 2010s. Albums such as Wake Up the World, God Be Praised, The More I Seek You and Great Great God strengthened the ministry’s presence in contemporary Christian music. The collective also became increasingly associated with worship leaders who would go on to develop their own successful careers.

Among the most prominent names connected with Gateway Worship has been Kari Jobe. Jobe served as a worship leader at Gateway Church and became closely associated with Gateway’s recordings before establishing an internationally successful solo career. Her performances of Gateway songs helped introduce the ministry’s music to an even broader Christian audience.

Musical Style and Influences

Gateway Worship’s music is rooted in contemporary Christian worship, with an emphasis on congregational accessibility, modern worship arrangements and lyrics centered on biblical themes. The collective’s recordings can range from quiet, intimate worship to large-scale live arrangements involving full bands, choirs and multiple vocalists.

The ministry’s approach has also allowed individual worship leaders to bring their own musical personalities into Gateway recordings. As a result, the catalogue contains a mixture of contemporary worship, Christian pop, gospel-influenced vocals and atmospheric worship production.

One of the clearest examples is “O the Blood”, written by Thomas Miller and Mary Beth Miller. The song became associated with Gateway Worship and was also recorded with Kari Jobe as lead vocalist. Its focus on the sacrifice of Jesus and redemption reflects the theological emphasis common throughout Gateway’s repertoire.

Another important song is “The More I Seek You”, which became one of Gateway Worship’s best-known worship songs. The song has been recorded in multiple versions over the years and remains part of the ministry’s enduring catalogue.

Notable Songs and Albums

Gateway Worship’s catalogue has grown considerably since its first recordings. Among its notable albums are Unsearchable, My Beloved, Wake Up the World, God Be Praised, The More I Seek You, Great Great God, Forever Yours, Walls, Gateway Worship Voices, Monuments and Greater Than.

The 2015 live album Walls became one of the ministry’s most successful projects and helped reinforce Gateway Worship’s position within contemporary Christian music. It was followed by Gateway Worship Voices in 2016 and Monuments in 2017. The collective continued its live-recording tradition with projects including Greater Than, Completely Abandoned and Crowns Down.

Among the songs most closely associated with Gateway Worship are “The More I Seek You”, “O the Blood”, “Revelation Song”, “It Is Finished”, “Open the Heavens”, “Who Else”, “Known By You” and “Crowns Down”. Some of these songs have been recorded by different Gateway worship leaders, reflecting the collective nature of the ministry.

International Reach and Gateway Worship Espaรฑol

Gateway Worship’s influence has extended beyond the United States through translations, international collaborations and localized worship ministries. One of the most significant developments has been Gateway Worship Espaรฑol, which records Spanish-language worship music and works with Latin American and Spanish-speaking worship leaders.

The Spanish ministry has released projects including El Seรฑor Reina, Gloria a Dios, Por Siempre Tuyo, Murallas, Mรกs Grande, Grande y Fiel and Celebrarรฉ. Its recordings have featured artists such as Josh Morales, Daniel Calveti, Miel San Marcos and other Spanish-speaking worship leaders.

In June 2026, Gateway Worship Espaรฑol released Momentos, a 12-song project continuing the ministry’s Spanish-language worship work.

This international dimension has helped Gateway Worship become more than a local church worship team. Its music has been adapted for different languages and worship cultures while retaining the ministry’s emphasis on congregational worship.

Recent Music and Current Activities

Gateway Worship has remained active in the 2020s, continuing to record both live worship and more intimate acoustic projects. In 2024, the ministry released Chapel Sessions, an acoustic collection built around songs that have had a significant impact at Gateway Church and among its wider audience. The project included songs such as “The More I Seek You”, “Who Else”, “Completely Abandoned” and “Crowns Down”.

The collective followed this with Chapel Sessions, Vol. 2 in 2025, while continuing to release individual live recordings. In 2025, projects and singles included Known By You, “Greatly To Be Praised” and “One True God”.

In March 2026, Gateway Worship released Church Moments (Live), a collection that captured songs and worship moments from Gateway Church. The project included live versions of songs such as “Who Else”, “Shout To The Lord”, “Goodness of God”, “Center” and “I Speak Jesus”.

The ministry has remained active throughout 2026. On August 14, 2026, Gateway Worship released “Best Days”, a live single featuring Matt Janney and recorded at Gateway Church in Southlake.

Legacy and Influence

Gateway Worship’s influence comes from its role in developing and distributing congregational worship music from a local church environment to a global Christian audience. Its catalogue has supplied songs that have moved from Gateway Church’s services into churches, worship teams and personal listening around the world.

The collective has also helped establish a model in which a large church’s worship ministry can function simultaneously as a local ministry, songwriting community, recording collective and international music platform. This model has allowed Gateway to nurture multiple generations of worship leaders rather than building its identity around a single artist.

Its influence is particularly visible through the number of worship leaders and musicians who have passed through or been associated with the ministry. Kari Jobe is among the most prominent examples, but the broader Gateway catalogue has featured numerous singers and songwriters whose contributions have shaped the ministry’s sound over the years.
