About Faveur Mukoko

Faveur Mukoko is a Congolese gospel singer, songwriter and worship leader from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Known for her expressive voice and devotional approach to Christian music, she emerged from the church choir tradition before gaining wider attention through gospel covers shared online. Her music is primarily rooted in contemporary Congolese gospel, with lyrics performed in French, Lingala and other expressions of Christian worship.

Mukoko first became widely known in 2020 after her interpretation of “Je vais รชtre comme Jรฉsus,” a song previously associated with Congolese gospel singer Patrice Ngoy Musoko. The performance circulated widely online during the COVID-19 period and introduced her voice to a much larger Christian audience. She subsequently released original songs and collaborated with established Congolese gospel musicians, gradually moving from a promising worship singer to a recognised recording artist.

In 2021, Mukoko became one of the artists signed by Maajabu Gospel, a Congolese Christian music platform created to discover and develop new gospel talent. Her debut album, Hakuniacha, followed in 2022, establishing her as one of the emerging female voices in the modern Congolese gospel scene. She later expanded her catalogue with the Amour Inconditionnel EP and a series of live worship recordings, while continuing to build an audience in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and among Francophone Christian communities internationally.

Early Life and Musical Background

Faveur Mukoko was raised in a Christian family in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Her parents, Kayo Mukoko and Marie-Louise Kiangambi, played an important role in her upbringing and spiritual development. Her mother in particular has been associated with her early church experiences and the development of her interest in worship.

Mukoko began singing at about the age of 12 through Sunday school. Her early involvement in church music eventually led her into larger choirs, where she continued to develop her voice and learn the discipline of working within a worship team.

She became involved with the FIM church in Kinshasa, where she progressed from children’s and youth-oriented choir activities to the main choir. Her vocal ability gradually attracted attention within the Congolese gospel community, and she began receiving invitations to participate in other artists’ projects.

Rise Through Gospel Covers

Before releasing a major body of original music, Mukoko became known for her interpretations of existing gospel songs. Her most important early breakthrough came in 2020, when she posted her version of “Je vais รชtre comme Jรฉsus.” The song was originally associated with Congolese gospel singer Patrice Ngoy Musoko, and Mukoko’s interpretation quickly gained attention.

The timing was significant. The COVID-19 pandemic had pushed much of Christian music and worship activity onto digital platforms, and social media became an increasingly important way for gospel singers to reach listeners. Mukoko’s videos benefited from this environment, allowing people to discover her voice outside the traditional church setting.

Following the success of the cover, she recorded and shared additional interpretations and original songs. “Ma Priรจre” became one of the early songs associated with her name, while collaborations such as “Ami Fidรจle” with Jonathan Mungongwa helped establish her presence within the wider Congolese gospel community.

Maajabu Gospel and Professional Career

Mukoko’s growing popularity eventually brought her to the attention of Maajabu Gospel. In April 2021, she was announced as one of seven new talents signed by the organisation. The signing represented a major step in her transition from an emerging worship singer known primarily through online covers to a professionally managed gospel recording artist.

Maajabu Gospel was established with the aim of discovering and promoting new Congolese gospel talent. Mukoko’s inclusion in its roster placed her alongside other emerging artists and gave her a structured platform for recording, promotion and live performances.

Her debut album, Hakuniacha, was released in 2022. The project marked an important milestone because it presented Mukoko primarily through her own music rather than the covers that had first brought her attention.

Musical Style and Notable Songs

Mukoko’s music is centred on Christian worship, praise and personal testimony. Her voice is often described as expressive and emotive, and her recordings place considerable emphasis on melody and lyrical devotion.

She regularly sings in French and Lingala, reflecting the multilingual character of Congolese gospel music. Her songs explore themes such as God’s faithfulness, protection, love, gratitude and dependence on Him. This can be heard in songs including “Rรฉmunรฉrateur,” “Maloba Na Yo,” “Il Est Vivant,” “Vaillant,” “Gardรฉe par le Plus Haut” and “Mosali Bikamua.”

Her 2022 album Hakuniacha remains one of the most important releases of her career. The project includes songs such as “Rรฉmunรฉrateur,” “Maloba Na Yo,” “Il Est Vivant,” “Vaillant,” “Gardรฉe par le Plus Haut” and “Mosali Bikamua.”

In 2024, she released Amour Inconditionnel, an EP built around the theme of God’s unconditional love. The project included “Amour Inconditionnel” and “Enfant Chรฉrie,” among other songs, and further established her reputation as a worship-focused artist.

Collaborations and Live Ministry

Collaboration has been an important part of Mukoko’s career from the beginning. Her early work connected her with established Congolese gospel singers, while her later career has included collaborations with Jonathan Mungongwa, Rolly Kasonga Jr., Tehilla Vin’s, Delphin Mukendi and other Christian artists.

She has also appeared on collaborative projects such as Un chant, une priรจre, a series of live worship projects involving different Congolese gospel artists. Her participation in these recordings has allowed her to present her music in a more spontaneous worship setting and to work alongside other established voices in the Congolese Christian music community.

Live music has become an increasingly important part of her catalogue. Projects such as Aksanti Mungu (Live) and Amour Inconditionnel (Live) capture a different side of her artistry, placing greater emphasis on worship, vocal expression and communal praise.

Recent Career and Music

After a period away from the public spotlight, Mukoko made a notable return in September 2024 with the release of Amour Inconditionnel. The EP marked her comeback following the success of Hakuniacha and demonstrated that she remained committed to developing her music beyond her initial breakthrough.

Her activity increased through 2025 with live projects and collaborations, including Aksanti Mungu (Live) and additional recordings connected to the Amour Inconditionnel project. She also continued appearing on collaborative worship releases, expanding her presence within the Congolese gospel scene.

In 2026, Mukoko continued releasing music. Her recent work includes “Ma Saison de gloire,” featuring Morijah, “Alongi na ye,” and the live album Gloire au Seigneur (Live). These releases show her continuing movement toward live worship and devotional music while maintaining the multilingual character of her catalogue.

Her career has also increasingly taken her beyond the traditional boundaries of her early church environment. In 2026, she returned to Citรฉ Bethel, a church she had attended as a child with her mother, this time appearing as an established gospel artist. The moment reflected the distance she had travelled from a young girl watching worship from the balcony to a recognised minister standing before the congregation.

Influence and Legacy

Faveur Mukoko represents a younger generation of Congolese gospel artists who have used digital platforms to move from church ministry into professional music. Her rise demonstrates how social media and online worship communities can introduce emerging singers to audiences long before they have released a conventional album.

Her story is also closely connected to the strength of the Congolese gospel tradition. Beginning in Sunday school and church choirs, she developed through years of worship ministry before her online covers brought her to wider attention. That foundation remains visible in the devotional character of her recordings.

What distinguishes Mukoko is the combination of a youthful contemporary presentation with the deeply worship-oriented tradition of Congolese Christian music. Her use of French and Lingala, expressive vocals and songs centred on God’s faithfulness has helped her connect with both younger listeners and established gospel audiences.
