About Anendlessocean

Anendlessocean, whose real name is Ayobami Emmanuel Alli-Hakeem, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and music producer known for his soulful vocals, introspective writing and genre-blending approach to contemporary African music. Often shortened to AEO, he has developed a distinctive sound that moves between gospel, soul, Afro-fusion, folk, R&B and atmospheric pop without being easily confined to one genre. He is particularly known for songs such as “Alakori,” “Nazarene,” “Bire,” “Gratitude,” “Ji,” and “Za.”

Anendlessocean’s music is deeply influenced by his Christian faith, but his songwriting also explores subjects such as love, grief, identity, relationships and the uncertainties of everyday life. His rise has been closely associated with a series of conceptually connected projects, beginning with the 2021 EP Apeirogon and continuing through Decagon in 2023, Octagon in 2024 and Sceptre in 2025. In 2026, he moved into a more explicitly romantic territory with Love Is a Machinery, a project that broadened the emotional range of his catalogue.

Early Life and Background

Ayobami Alli-Hakeem grew up in a family where music was an important part of everyday life. His father is Muslim and his mother was Christian, giving him an upbringing in which he encountered different religious traditions. He has spoken openly about having practised Islam at one point before eventually committing himself to Christianity. His faith would later become one of the central influences on his music.

He spent much of his early life in Abuja, where his relationship with music gradually developed. In a 2025 interview with The Guardian, he recalled growing up around a wide range of music, naming artists and groups including Michael Jackson, Daniel Bedingfield, Women of Faith and Hillsong among his early listening influences. His musical upbringing was therefore not restricted to one sound or tradition.

Church was particularly important to his development as a musician. He began by playing instruments and participating in church music rather than immediately pursuing a career as a singer. He has recalled receiving his first guitar from church and later using a church-built studio as a place to practise and develop his songwriting and recording skills.

The loss of his mother when he was young also became an important part of his personal story. Although he does not reduce his music to that experience, the grief and emotional complexity surrounding it have contributed to the introspective quality that listeners often associate with his work.

Education and the Beginning of His Music Career

Anendlessocean studied Petroleum Engineering at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State, graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering degree. His university years coincided with the period in which he began taking music more seriously.

He has described himself as wanting to make music for several years before the career properly took shape. Although he released music as early as 2018, he considers 2020 the point at which his professional career truly began to gain momentum. This distinction is useful because his first recordings predated the period when he began attracting significant attention.

One of his earliest recognised releases was “Falala,” which introduced audiences to the calm, soulful quality that would become a characteristic of his music. He followed it with “Alakori” in 2020, a song that helped bring his work to a wider audience and established him as an emerging voice in Nigeria’s contemporary Christian music scene.

The stage name Anendlessocean also emerged around this period. He has explained that the name is connected to his belief in God as the source of something infinite. “Endless” represents that idea of infinity, while the image of an ocean appealed to him because of its vastness and depth.

Apeirogon and the Breakthrough

Anendlessocean’s first major project was the 2021 EP Apeirogon. Released on July 9, 2021, the project introduced a more complete version of the sound he had been developing through his earlier singles. It established his preference for atmospheric production, soulful melodies and lyrics that invite reflection rather than simply delivering straightforward declarations.

The EP helped him build a dedicated audience and created the foundation for the conceptual approach that would later become one of the defining features of his discography. His music was recognisably Christian, but it did not always resemble the conventional sound associated with Nigerian gospel music.

That difference became increasingly important as his audience grew. Anendlessocean has argued that music itself should not necessarily be divided into rigid categories and that the message is an important part of what determines whether a song is considered gospel or secular. His approach has consequently allowed him to reach listeners who may not ordinarily seek out traditional gospel music.

His rise accelerated with songs including “Nazarene,” “Bire,” “Ji” and other recordings that demonstrated his ability to combine spiritual themes with contemporary African sounds. By 2022, his career had begun moving into a new phase, and his growing audience set the stage for his first full-length album.

Decagon, Octagon and Musical Identity

In 2023, Anendlessocean released Decagon, his debut studio album. The project expanded considerably on the ideas introduced on Apeirogon and helped establish him as one of the more distinctive younger artists working in Nigeria’s gospel and alternative music spaces.

The album also introduced the geometric naming system that would become a recurring feature of his catalogue. Apeirogon, Decagon and the later Octagon are connected by his interest in shapes and the possibilities they provide for building a continuous artistic concept. He has explained that the idea gives him a framework that can evolve from one project to another without restricting the music itself.

His sound during this period became increasingly difficult to categorise. Decagon moved between folk-pop, Afro-fusion, Fuji-influenced rhythms and Caribbean-inspired sounds while maintaining the soulful foundation of his earlier work. Songs such as “Gratitude” showed his ability to create direct expressions of faith, while other tracks allowed him to experiment more freely with rhythm and production.

He followed Decagon with Hexagon, a five-track EP released in 2024, and Octagon later that year. Hexagon marked a notable shift because it focused heavily on romantic love, showing that Anendlessocean was interested in writing about human relationships as much as explicitly religious subjects. Octagon, meanwhile, continued the broader conceptual world he had established with his earlier projects.

Musical Style, Songs and Collaborations

Anendlessocean’s music is built around a combination of soulful vocals, atmospheric production, African rhythms and reflective songwriting. His ability to move between genres is deliberate rather than accidental. He has spoken about his love for variety and his belief that music should not be unnecessarily restricted by categories.

His songwriting frequently deals with faith and the relationship between God and the individual, but he also writes about romance, vulnerability, personal growth and the human condition. This range has become one of the strongest features of his appeal.

Among his best-known songs are “Alakori,” “Nazarene,” “Bire,” “Gratitude,” “Ji,” “Za,” “D2D” and “P&A.” “Gratitude” became particularly significant during his rise and earned him nominations at the 17th Headies for both Best Inspirational Single and Best Vocal Performance (Male).

Collaboration has played a smaller role in his catalogue than it has for many contemporary Nigerian artists. Anendlessocean has acknowledged that most of his projects have historically been relatively self-contained, although he indicated in 2026 that he intended to explore more collaborations. His more recent work has included collaborations with artists such as Braye and Sinmidele.

Awards, Recognition and Current Career

Anendlessocean’s growing reputation received a significant boost when “Gratitude” earned two nominations at the 17th Headies: Best Inspirational Single and Best Vocal Performance (Male). Although he did not win either category, the nominations placed him alongside some of Nigeria’s established mainstream recording artists and reflected the increasing recognition of his work outside the narrower gospel music circuit.

His career has continued to develop beyond the conventional gospel market. In 2025, he released Sceptre, returning to the faith-centred side of his artistry after the romantic focus of Hexagon and Octagon. He also released songs including “ZA”, which combines spiritual conviction with an emotionally intense vocal performance.

In June 2026, Anendlessocean released Love Is a Machinery, an 11-track album that explores romantic love in considerably greater depth. The project includes “Chemicals of Love,” “Eden,” “Make You Feel My Love,” “Pretty Wings” featuring Braye, “Honey, I Love You,” “Easy to Love,” “Love Linguistics,” “Orlando,” “End of Day,” “Get You” featuring Sinmidele and “Rebel.”

The album represents another expansion of his artistic range. Rather than abandoning the spiritual foundation of his earlier music, Anendlessocean approaches romantic love with the same attention to emotion, language and meaning that has characterised his faith-based songwriting.

His 2026 Love Is a Machinery (LIAM) Tour is scheduled to take him through the United Kingdom, Canada and Nigeria, with performances in Manchester, Birmingham, London, Toronto, Calgary, Abuja and Lagos.

Anendlessocean’s growing influence comes from his refusal to treat gospel music as a narrow musical category. He has helped demonstrate that contemporary Christian music can be atmospheric, experimental, romantic, culturally African and emotionally complicated while still retaining a clear spiritual identity. From his early church experiences and engineering education to Apeirogon, Decagon, Octagon and Love Is a Machinery, his career has been defined by curiosity and a willingness to let each project explore a different part of who he is as an artist.
