Lyrics of “New Song” by Jason Gray.

She walked in the room and showed me a tattoo
Of a bird on her arm
She told me about what she’d been through
And all she lost in the storm
And then she talked ’bout a story that she heard of sailors lost at sea
They’d keep their eyes on the horizon
And listen for the birds to sing

Waiting for a sign
Of a new thing coming
I’m waiting and I’m listening

‘Cause I need a new song
A “You’re gonna see me through” song
And “get me to that shore” song
Oh, I
I need a new song
A “You brought me through that storm” song
Oh I, I need a new song
I need a new song

You say Your mercy’s new in the morning
But will the sun ever rise
‘Cause I’ve been waiting, I keep praying
Scared I’m running outta time

Waiting for a sign
Of a new thing coming
I’m waiting and I’m listening

‘Cause I need a new song
A “You’re gonna see me through” song
And “get me to that shore” song
Oh, I
I need a new song
A “You brought me through that storm” song
Oh I, I need a new song
I need a new song

I waited patiently
You turned and heard my cry
From the pit You lifted me
Out of the mud and mire
You set my feet on rock
Gave me a place to stand
Put a new song in my mouth
And took me by the hand
And I am not alone
You’ve not forsaken me
You’re doing something new
And I can hear the birds sing

You wrote me a new song
A “You broke down the door” song
And “picked me off the floor” song
Oh, I
Now I’ve got a new song
A “You’ll always see me through” song
And “get me to that shore” song
Oh, I
I’ve got a new song
A “He brought me through that storm” song
Oh I, I’ve got a new song.
